Impact Story

“On April 15, 2012, I lost my leg to an improvised explosive device in Kandahar Province, Afghanistan, while conducting counterinsurgency operations with the 82nd Airborne Division…Out of all the recreational opportunities I was privileged to participate in while healing, [the Melanie D. Strudler Memorial Golf Tournament] holds a special place in my heart. While I probably struggled just to make par, I excelled in one of the most important aspects of life – friendship…

For the past 11 years, I have considered myself a part of Miracle 4 Melanie family …The organization has blossomed into something incredibly amazing.

The success of Miracle 4 Melanie is reflected by the character and strength of its champions. Perseverance, honesty, and passion are three traits I would use to describe the men and women who endeavor this important cause.”

– Major Josh Pitcher, United States Army

“With living on one income, we are just not able to afford to take trips/vacations. It was a breather and a well needed relaxation get-a-way, it was a mini vacation for us without a major expense.”

“Coming to Family Warrior Weekend saved our marriage.”

“This program showed me and my family how to laugh more and to have more fun together.”

“I think we all walked away with a little more confidence and understanding. It allowed us to do something with our boys we don’t usually get to do. It showed our kids that there are other families like theirs. I didn’t feel so alone and made friends and we continue to help each other.”
